VCSA Sends - Special Compensation for Assistance with Activities of Daily Living, dtd 2 Nov 2011
Leaders:
I want you to be aware of a program called Special Compensation for Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (SCAADL). SCAADL was authorized by the Fiscal Year 2010 National Defense Authorization Act. This special monthly compensation is for our Soldiers who incur a permanent catastrophic injury or illness. SCAADL helps offset the loss of income by a primary caregiver who provides non-medical care, support, and assistance for the Soldier.
Click the link below to view the one page info sheet that helps explain the process and I ask that you become familiar with it ... we owe it to our most seriously wounded Soldiers and their families. MEDCOM and the Warrior Transition Units have the lead for this program and Army Implementing Guidance is soon to follow, but your leadership is how we will ensure deserving Soldiers get this benefit.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thank you for your support of We Feed Our People Project.
The Washington DC Chapter of The ROCKS, Inc. and family members participated in the "25th Annual We Feed Our People Project" on 16 JAN 12 (Monday). It was Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and he would have been 81 years old. There were several hundreds of volunteers on site and even more behind the scene from several different organizations. We had several DC Chapter members on hand to help out.
More than a day off, is the catalyst behind the community based coalition of concerned individuals and organizations formed in Washington, DC in 1988 to commemorate the works and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by reaching out to those most vulnerable the homeless. We Feed Our People (WFOP) provides a nutritious meal and warm clothing for homeless citizens in the nation's capitol as a way to keep the work of a great hero alive.
The Washington, DC Chapter was a major sponsor for the project that was executed in front of the Martin Luther King, Jr. library on 9th and G Street in Washington, D.C. from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and at other locations days before. Mr. Walt McGill, one of the originators and founders for the project was on hand working with some of the other orginators and founders. Senator Eleanor Norton-Holmes, Mr. Vincent Gray, Mayor and Councilman Kwame R. Brown of Washington, D.C. participated in feeding and clothing the less fortunate. In addition, there was free HIV Testing by Aids Healthcare, Calvar Medical mobile clinic provided by The Bishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. Family Life Church and a Mobile One Stop Career Center for jobs for the City of Washington, D.C. It was a day filled with work, pride, joy and fun. Thanks to all who participated!
Our next community service project is TBD.
Thanks!
