General Operating Fund
This fund supports all chapter standing operations, to include General Meetings. If you are interested in sponsoring a meeting, please donate using this fund.
RC Cartwright Scholarship Fund
We award scholarships annually to local ROTC Cadets in Honor of BG RC Cartwright. These scholarships are presented at the Spring Gala.
Leaders Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
A special fundraising campaign is ongoing to raise the fund to $20,000 in 2020. As with all endowment, only the interest on the gift (approximately 5%) is spent, thus the annual scholarship award will be approximately $1000 per year. This will provide for two $500 scholarships each for the respective cadets. The recipients will be selected on the basis of student leadership as well as good academic standing and being an active member in JROTC as a senior or a freshmen cadet in senior ROTC. The scholarships will aid with tuition and fees. If fundraising exceeds the minimum goal of $20,000, additional scholarships will be awarded. The goal is to be able to award three $1,000 scholarships annually. To date, the chapter has received $12,200 in donations.
The Golf Tournament is a fundraising event held at The Fort Belvoir Golf Club. First, Second, and Third place teams are presented with awards and golfers/entrants are eligible to win an assortment of prizes. Prizes from previous tournaments included $25,000, a LCD flatscreen TV, Callaway Big Bertha Clubs, Domestic Round, and a Trip for Two. We welcome individual, group, and corporate sponsorship at various levels. Aside from being an extremely fun, this event helps us fund scholarships for well-deserving cadets.
5-Mile Race & 2 Mile Walk
As the first event to kick off each year, the 5-Mile Race/2-Mile Walk is held at the beautiful Burke Lake Park, Fairfax, VA. Donations from this event support the Chapter R.C. Cartwright ROTC Scholarship Fund and Leadership Outreach programs. All entrants will receive a T-shirt and the top three overall male and female runners, finishers, and ROTC Cadets in each age group will be awarded prizes. There is also an award for the top male and female in the 70+ and walker categories. We also have a Corporate Challenge and ROTC Challenge for the corporate and ROTC teams with the best times.
West Hamilton Dinner
The West Hamilton DInner and Silent Auction is held every fall. This event is a great opportunity to enjoy dinner and dance with Chapter members and local ROTC Cadets and see deserving Chapter members receive awards during a brief Award Ceremony. In conjunction with this dinner, the Silent Auction, historically conducted by the late LTG(R) Ed Honor starting in 1986, will continue as a testament to him and as a Chapter fundraiser. The proceeds from the Silent Auction go toward several programs sponsored by the Washington DC Chapter.
